EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee serves as a central resource for keeping members informed, prepared, and in compliance with South Carolina real estate continuing education requirements.

This role is responsible for actively identifying, organizing, and communicating available educational opportunities to agents, including in-person classes, live virtual sessions, and on-demand online courses.

The committee ensures that members are consistently “in the loop” by sharing upcoming course schedules, registration details, deadlines, and any changes to state or National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) requirements. This includes promoting local board offerings, approved third-party education providers, and relevant industry training that enhances professional growth and compliance.

SOUTH CAROLINA CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

In South Carolina, all active real estate licensees are required to complete 10 hours of continuing education every two-year license renewal cycle.

This includes:

4 hours of mandatory core (or “required”) coursework, as designated by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission for that license cycle

6 hours of elective courses, which may cover a variety of real estate-related topics approved by the Commission

All continuing education must be completed through approved providers prior to license renewal to maintain active status.

NAR Code of Ethics RequirementS

REALTORS® are required by the National Association of REALTORS® to complete Code of Ethics training every three years. This requirement is separate from state continuing education and must be completed within each designated three-year cycle to maintain active REALTOR® membership.

Fair Housing Requirement

REALTORS® are also required to complete Fair Housing / Anti-Bias training every three years, as mandated by NAR.
